Dear Friends—
I hope this message finds you and your family staying healthy and coping well with the very unusual circumstances in which we find ourselves. Making the sudden shift from classroom instruction to distance-learning mode has been challenging for students and teachers alike. Add to that the cancellation of proms and graduations and ongoing uncertainty about upcoming ACT and SAT test dates, and we certainly find ourselves in unfamiliar territory.
I want to reassure you that we are here to help. I and all of our tutors look forward to getting back to in-person appointments as soon as we safely can. In the meantime, The Whole Kid’s tutors are effectively conducting all appointments via Zoom (or a combo of FaceTime and Google Docs, when that’s the better fit). From my own experience I can tell you that—with the functionality of being able to see each other, view a document or website in common, and even annotate that document together in real time—it almost feels like being in the room together.
For anyone who might be feeling uncertain about remote tutoring, Dr. Brian Murphy—one of The Whole Kid’s amazing math and science tutors—and I have put together this short video to demonstrate just a few of the tools that we’ve been finding most helpful. Take a look—and please remember, Brian and I are great teachers, not great video editors!
Please don’t hesitate to call, text, or email me at any time if we can help in any way. Stay healthy and hang in there!
Warmly,
Tim Tibbitts
